Where in the World is Gloria Dei Now???   Celebrating our Global Relationships.  Below you will find stories, photos and video shared by various Gloria Dei members –

Bukoba Videos 1 and 2: Church and Community in Tanzania.  Video footage from 1998.  Gloria Dei members travel to Ibura parish and community; Per and Elaine Wickstrom, Harry Wick, Eldora Recksiedler and Helen Carlson.

This is the 1st video of a set of 2 videos about the Ibura parish.  This video contains journal entries of Eldora Recksiedler, a letter that Harry Wick received and information provided by Helen Carlson about the planning and preparations for the trip.  Please view this video before the Per Wickstrom 2nd video (below) as you will appreciate more of the video footage and commentary by Per.

It is with sadness that we heard that Josiah Kibiri, our Ibura host, passed away in 2021.  The video was completed prior to his passing into eternal life.

Video 2: This 15mn video home movie of Per Wickstrom is fascinating.  View it after you view the above video called, “Mungo ni Pendo”, as that video explains much of what you see in Per Wickstrom’s video so you can really enjoy the video footage.  (Perhaps someone would like to transcibe Per’s commentary during the video, and give the transcipt to Linda who would be happy to caption his video.)

INDIA!

In 2005, 3 Gloria Dei members participated in an ELCA-sponsored consultation between US synods and their India counterparts.  They had an amazing trip meeting many people… and they even saw an Elephant in a Temple!  On this trip were: Pr. Karen Bockelman, Ann Willhoite Bell and Kylie Dalager.

RUSSIA!

Pastor David Carlson, of Gloria Dei is the narrator about the Ural Denery. Several Gloria Dei members, and others from the Duluth area have visited this part of the world several times.

Perhaps you have a video about Honduras or Russia trips….. to submit for our 150th project.  It isn’t too late!  We have a place for your video right here!
